KABUL: The UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, Tadamichi Yamamoto, during a meeting with Pakistani officials stressed over regional cooperation to seek political solution to conflict in Afghanistan, a media report said on Friday.
Tadamichi today held a meeting with Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua in Islamabad as part of a two-day visit to the Pakistan capital.
Mr. Yamamoto, who also heads the UN’s political mission in Afghanistan, UNAMA (UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan), met several other Pakistani and international officials.
Mr. Yamamoto highlighted that no party could win militarily in Afghanistan and that regional cooperation was a vital factor in efforts to support Afghans find a political solution to bring peace to the country. -Pajhwok
