BANNU: By Wasim Baghi: Afghan security forces have killed a key commander of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Said Anwar alias Aryana, along with nine other militants in a raid carried out near Pak-Afghan border in Afghanistan’s province Paktia.
Sources confirmed that Aryana has been killed in a clash with security forces of Afghanistan. Aryana remained a closed friend of Ex-TTP head Hakim Ullah Mehsood till latter his death in a US drone strike in North Waziristan.
Aryana was also close to local Taliban commander Maulana Sadiq Noor in NWA.
There were reports that Khan Said Sajna TTP Mehsood Taliban head was also killed in the raid, but today Taliban sources said to The Pashtun Times on the condition not to be named that Sajna was alive and remain safe in the raid.
The Taliban commander Said Anwar alias Aryana belonged to restive North Waziristan Mir Ali Haider Khel Dawar tribe. In North Waziristan his militant group was known as “Aryana Group” which was among the known groups of militants. Aryana is considered to be among the most important commanders of the Pakistani Taliban. Following the Zarb-i-Azab military operation in North Waziristan, he had escaped along with other Taliban to Afghanistan. Some sources also report that dead bodies of the militants continue to be brought from Afghanistan to North Waziistan and FR Bannu where mass funeral of the militants has also been seen. Taliban and intelligence sources confirmed that four Mehsood Taliban were also killed in the raid in Afghanistan.
