Suicide Attack Rocks French Guesthouse in Kabul

explosion-targets-restaurant-in-Kabul-300x188KABUL: At least three people were killed and 15 were wounded in a suicide attack on a guesthouse used by foreigners in Thaimani area of Kabul on Friday evening, an official said.

The guesthouse – Le Jardin is located in the vicinity of 9th street of Taimani area in 4th police district of the city which is mostly visited by the foreigners.

Sediq Sediq, spokesman for the Ministry of Interior (MoI), confirmed that one suspect was arrested shortly after the blast.

Citing the preliminary police finding, Sediqi said three civilians were killed and fifteen others were wounded in the attack.

The security officials have not commented regarding the incident so far but preliminary reports suggest that many people were wounded in the attack and were shifted to Emergency Hospital.

Local residents and eyewitnesses in the area are saying that the blast site has been cordoned off by the security forces and sporadic gun fire were heard following the explosion.

Today’s incident comes three days after a suicide bomber detonated a Vehicle-borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED) close to Kabul airport, leaving at least one civilian dead and over 30 others wounded.
