Qandeel’s brother, Wasim, was arrested in the early hours of Sunday morning hours after he killed his sister.
He was presented before the media by the police forces in Pakistan and in his confession before the media he admitted to the horrific killing of his sister.
CPO Multan Azhar Akram told reporters that Qandeel was staying at her parent’s home when the incident occurred. He said that the suspect killed her ‘for honour’ and fled to Dera Ghazi Khan.
Wasim told reporters that he drugged her and then strangled his sister to death.
Akram quoted in a report by the local media, Geo News, said Qandeel’s murder case has been registered upon her father’s request.
He said that there are chances of reconciliation over the murder and the suspect might get saved from the punishment, so the section 311 (honour killing) has been added to the case, which means a non-compoundable offence.
Qandeel’s funeral prayers were offered today in a Dera Ghazi Khan’s Shah Saddar Din area. The model’s father, relatives and neighbours attended the prayers. -KP
