abdul-aziz-haqqani-300x180ISLAMABAD: The officials in Islamabad are saying that 27 Taliban and Haqqani network suspects have been handed over to the authorities in Afghanistan.

A spokesman for the ministry of foreign affairs of Pakistan Dr. Mohammad Faisal said Pakistan continues to push any suspected Tehrik-e-Taliban Afghanistan and Haqqani network elements to prevent them from using the Pakistani soil for any terrorist activity in Afghanistan.

He said “In this context, 27 individuals suspected of belonging to Tehrik-e-Taliban Afghanistan and Haqqani network have been handed over to Afghanistan in November 2017.”

The Afghan government officials have not commented regarding the latest remarks of the Pakistani officials so far.

This comes as the Afghan officials have long been insisting that the leadership council of the Taliban and Haqqani network are based in the key cities of Pakistan.

The latest claims by the Pakistani officials come as the Taliban group having close links with the Haqqani network carried out a series of deadly attacks in Kabul and other parts of the country.

In the meantime, the Afghan intelligence chief and minister of interior are in Islamabad to discuss the recent attacks as the officials are saying that evidences regarding the recent attacks will be shared with the authorities in Pakistan. -KP
