The US Secretary of State John Kerry reaffirmed US support to Afghanistan during a surprise visit to Kabul today.
In a press conference with his Afghan counterpart Salahuddin Rabbani, Kerry said the US support to Afghanistan will continue in a bid to prevent Afghanistan become a safe haven of the terror groups.
Kerry arrived in Afghanistan today to meet with the Afghan officials and discuss issues of bilateral interests.
His visit to Afghanistan comes as the officials of the two countries started third phase of negotiations to review the bilateral strategic partnership agreement between Kabul and Washington.
The negotiations are beind held in the format of join committee to review the bilateral strategic cooperation between the two nations.
Kerry said the meeting will focus on security, defense, economic and social cooperation between Kabul and Washington as part of the strategic pact.
This comes as the officials of the two countries met for two times to discuss bilateral cooperation between the two nations in the format of bilateral strategic cooperation agreement.
Kabul and Washington concluded the bilateral strategic cooperation agreement in 2012 and was signed by the former Afghan President Hamid Karzai and US President Barack Obama. -KP
