Gulbadin Hekmatyar’s secretary ‘Haji Farid’ shot dead in Pakistan

HIA secKABUL: Hezb-i-Islami Afghanistan (HIA) chief Gulbadin Hekmatyar’s secretary was gunned down in northwestern Pakistan on Tuesday, a party official said.

Qaribur Rahman Syed, HIA spokesman, told local media that the incident happened in the Tajabad area of Peshawar, the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, early in the morning.

Haji Farid was shot dead by unidentified gunmen on his way to house form a mosque. Farid was also father-in-law of Hekmatyar’s son Salahuddin Hekmatyar.

A few days back, Farid had returned to Peshawar from Kabul, according to Syed, who said his party colleague had no enmity. He called the killing as a politically motivated act by the enemies of peace and (HIA).

Syed condemned the killing of the (HIA) official and urged Pakistan to ensure the security of the all Afghan refugees, particularly (HIA) members. Farid was a resident of Kunduz province.
