KABUL: President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on Wednesday chaired a high level defense meeting to discuss the latest security upheavals in the capital and other provinces of the country.
The Office of the President, ARG Palace, said the meeting of the armed forces commander chief chaired by President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani focused on security situation of Kabul, Faryab, Jawzjan, Baghlan, Nuristan, Uruzgan, and Farah provinces.
A statement by ARG Palace said comprehensive discussions were made regarding the security situation of the mentioned provinces and necessary instructions were issued to the relevant security institutions for the improvement of the security.
The statement further added that the meeting also reviewed the possible challenges and security threats in the coming three months and necessary instructions were given and decisions were taken to curb the enemy plots.
In the meantime, the acting minister of interior Wais Barmak informed regarding the arrest of suspects involved in disturbing the security and conducting aerial firings in Kabul city during the day to mark the week of martyrs.
The meeting concluded with the decision to take strict actions against those involved in destabilizing the city security as Barmak said the detained individuals have been introduced to the attorney general’s office for further investigations. -KP
