According to the local media reports, Gen. Sharif held talks with Gen. Nicholson on returning of their cooperation for Afghan peace.
Gen. Nicholson who is also the commander of the NATO-led Resolute Support mission in Afghanistan reportedly visited Pakistan on his routine visit to the country.
Other issues discussed during the meeting included border management and couter-terrorism efforts.
The visit by Gen. Nicholson to Pakistan comes as efforts to revive peace talks failed after Taliban rejected to participate in direct peace talks with the Afghan government.
Afghanistan was expecting direct talks with the group early in March this year following the formation of Quadrilateral Coordination Group consisting Aghanistan, Pakistan, China and United States.
Persistent attacks by Taliban forced the Afghan government to abandon peace efforts and opt a strict military option against the group following a series of deadly attacks in the country, specifically a coordinated attack on VIP protection unity in Kabul which left at least 64 dead and 347 others wounded. -KP
