KABUL: The Canadian Embassy in Kabul confirmed that the security guards of the Embassy were targeted by a suicide bomber in Kabul today.
“The Embassy of Canada confirms that the cowardly attack targeted the security company of the Embassy. We offer condolences to the families of victims,” the Embassy said.
At least 14 Nepalese guards were killed after a suicide bomber targeted a mini bus in the 9th police district of the city around 6:00 am today.
The Ministry of Interior (MoI) officials said the bus was targeted in Benayi area of Kabul by a suicide bomber.
At least 8 others were also wounded in the attack as the Taliban group claimed responsibility behind the incident and said over 20 people were killed or wounded.
A number of the Afghan civilians were also among those sustained injuries in today’s attack.
The Taliban group has intensified attacks across the country including capital Kabul after the group announced its spring offensive earlier in April and vowed to carry out more attacks as the group’s insurgency enters to its 15th year since they were toppled in a US-led invasion. -KP
