BRP sets up camp in Geneva to highlight ‘state atrocities against Baloch’

BNPQUETTA: Leaders of the Baloch Republican Party (BRP) in Switzerland have said that a six-day camp set up at the Broken Chair in Geneva to highlight human rights violations in Balochistan has ended.

BRP president in Switzerland Sher Baz Bugti, vice president Qadir Bugti and secretary general Mohammad Nawaz Bugti said in a joint statement that the objective of the camp was to highlight the ‘state atrocities’ in Balochistan before the international community.

Sher Baz Bugti sent an email to Dawn on Friday, saying that pamphlets were distributed among human rights activists and tourists from different countries who visited the BRP camp and learned about the current situation in Balochistan.

He alleged that human rights violations by security forces in Balochistan were increasing by the day and the Baloch people were being killed during military operations.

The Baloch youth, even women and children, were kept in torture cells, he added.

He said thousands of people from different parts of the world visited the camp and condemned atrocities against Baloch people.

BRP chief Nawab Brahamdagh Bugti visited the camp on the sixth day and encouraged activists.

He praised efforts being made by the party activists in Switzerland for highlighting the struggle of Baloch people for their rights at international forums and directed them to be more active.

Mr Brahamdagh urged human rights organisations, including the United Nations, to take notice of the alleged human rights violations in Balochistan and take immediate, practical and effective steps to stop what he called the Baloch genocide. -DN
