Beijing offers tripartite talks between Afghanistan, Pakistan, China

China-Afghanistan-PakistanBeijing has offered tripartite talks between Afghanistan, Pakistan, and China with main focus being peace and stability and economic cooperation.

The Office of the President, ARG Palace, in a statement said China’s Special Envoy for Afghanistan and Pakistan Deng Xijun met with President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on Monday.

The statement further added Mr. Xijun discussed the ongoing situation in the region and informed regarding Beijing’s intent to convene a trilateral summit between the three nations.

Mr. Xijung also added that the tripartite talks on foreign ministerial level will have a positive outcome and said he expects that Afghanistan will participate in the meeting.

According to the ARG Palace, Mr. Xijung also conveyed the message of the Chinese President to his Afghan counterpart and invited him for the next round of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit.

In his turn, President Ghani thanked the China’s special envoy and said he will participate in the next round of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization meeting.

According to ARG Palace, the two sides held talks on regional connectivity, economic and development projects, and issues related to regional peace and stability.
