PESHAWAR: Awami National Party (ANP) Thursday observed 4th death anniversary of Bashir Ahmad Bilour and paid rich tributes to him for his services for Pakthuns and province.
On 22 December 2012, Bilour was leaving after attending a meeting of ANP workers in Peshawar, when he was attacked and critically injured by a suicide bomber. He was rushed to Lady Reading Hospital where he died.
The main ceremony was held at Namak Mandi Peshawar to commemorate the death anniversary of Bashir Bilour. Glowing tributes were paid to the slain leader of the party. A large number of party activists attended the function.
The ceremony was addressed by central and provincial leaders including Mian Iftikhar Hussain, Ghulam Ahmad Bilour, Amir Haider Khan Hoti, Haroon Bilour, Sardar Hussain Babak and others. Some ANP workers and Pakhtuns Student Federation members clashed during the ceremony. However, the situation was controlled after intervention by the party leaders.
The speakers lauded the sacrifice of Bashir Bilour and other leaders and workers of the party.
Haji Ghulam Ahmad Bilour said that Bashir Bilour was a great human being, who struggled for the rights of Pakhtuns and people of Peshawar. He said that he struggled for the rights of people of Peshawar in the provincial assembly.
He said that the ANP supported the CPEC, but would continue efforts for protection of the rights of Pakhtuns in the projects under CPEC.
