Afghanistan seeks China support for SCO full membership

Af ChKABUL: Deputy Foreign Minister Hekmat Khalil Karzai has met Assistant Foreign Minister Li Hui in Moscow a head of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Contact Group meeting, a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Wednesday.

Karzai highlighted Afghan Government’s high expectations from this meeting and sought China’s support on SCO platform.

These priorities included Afghanistan’s full membership to the SCO, collective actions against terrorists groups, Afghanistan’s economic integration with the SCO countries and support for peace and reconciliation.

Assistant Foreign Minister Hui highlighted Afghanistan’s importance to China as a neighbor and a strategic cooperative partner and pledged to support Afghanistan’s priorities in the SCO Contact Group meeting including full membership of Afghanistan to the SCO, collective actions against terrorist groups, peace and reconciliation and Afghanistan’s economic integration with the SCO countries. -Pajhwok
