Afghan President refused to hold talks with Pakistani Prime Minister over the phone: Sources

Ashraf_GhaniKABUL: The sources in the Afghan government have confirmed that President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has turned down a request by the Pakistani Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi to hold talks over the phone.

Sources further added that the Prime Minister of Pakistan wanted to hold with President Ghani apparently to discuss the recent deadly attacks.

However, they said the request was turned down and instead a delegation has been sent to him in Islamabad and hold talks with the other high ranking Pakistani officials.

The Afghan Ambassador to Islamabad Hazarat Omar Zakhilwal earlier confirmed that he will part of a delegation for urgent meetings with the Pakistani military and other officials.

A spokesman for the Chief Executive’s office Javid Faisal confirmed that the delegation will hold talks regarding the recent attacks.

He said Afghanistan’s Intelligence Chief and Minister of Interior went to Pakistan this morning to ask military leadership to hand over Pakistan based terrorists involved in the recent attacks in Kabul.

Faisal further added that the delegation will also hand over documents and proofs to Pakistan’s military establishment. -KP
