ISLAMABAD: A key government ally Pukhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) chief Mehmood Khan Achakzai on Friday proposed reserve seats for transgenders in parliament.
“The government must reserve seats for transgenders in parliament,” said Achakzai while speaking on point of order, condemning the Sialkot incident where around 10 people were arrested after a video of man thrashing a transgender went viral on social media.
“A condemnation message should go from parliament on this brutal act and a law to protect them should also be made,” he said.
Minister for Kashmir Affairs Barjees Tahir, responding to the concerns raised by Achakzai, said 10 persons involved in the act have been arrested.
While talking about explosions in an oil tanker at the Gadani ship-breaking yard, Achakzai said the investigation of the inquiry committee might not work properly.
“The government should tackle this matter seriously as many precious lives have lost in the incident,” he added.
While talking about the Shah Noorani shrine blast incident, he questioned the security arrangements and role of intelligence agencies. “It was very shocking incident,” he added. -Agencies
