6 Killed, 24 wounded in Blast near Russian Embassy in Kabul

Kabul-suicide-attackKABUL: A relatively heavy explosion rocked Kabul city few minutes earlier this evening leaving at least six civilians dead and twenty four others wounded.

Sediq Sediqi, spokesman for the Ministry of Interior confirmed a suicide attack has taken place in Dar-ul-Aman area of the city.

He did not disclose further information regarding the incident saying the area has been cordoned off and more details will be released later.

Deputy interior minister Gen. Ayub Salangi confirmed that six civilians were killed and twenty four others were wounded in the attack.

Earlier reports indicated a Vehicle-borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED) has been detonated in the vicinity of Dar-ul-Aman area close to the Russsian embassy compound.

No group including the Taliban militants has so far claimed responsibility behind the attack so far which comes amid soaring Taliban-led insurgency in the country.
