KABUL: Twins explosions rocked capital Kabul this afternoon with the preliminary reports suggesting scores of police cadets have lost their lives in the attack.
An official in the Ministry of Interior has said at least 27 people were killed and 40 others were wounded in the back to back explosions in the vicinity of Company area.
A security official confirmed that a suicide bomber targeted a vehicle belonging to the security forces in the vicinity of Company area.
The official further added that the bus carrying police cadets were targeted as they were on their way from the neighboring Maidan Wardak province to Kabul city.
He said another explosion took place soon after the first blast and there is possibility that the blasts have incurred casualties but there are no information available so far.
In the meantime, a spokesman for the Ministry of Interior, Sediq Sediqi, said the security officials are working on details of today’s terrorist attacks on Police convoy in Kabul and updates will be provided shortly.
The Taliban militants group claimed responsibility behind the incident. -KP
