ENGLAND: A woman has reportedly murdered her boyfriend over an an alleged row triggered due to the amount of time he was spending on Facebook social media website.
The incident took place last year in Lancashire town in northwest England, according to The Independent, citing a report by the local newspaper Lancashire Evening Post.
The woman, 23-year-old Terri-Marrie Palmer, was found guilty on Friday of stabbing her boyfriend Damon Searson to death following a heated argument over his social media use.
Police authorities quoted by the newspaper said police were called to a caravan on Stud Farm Park in Morecambe in August 2015, and found 23-year-old Mr Searson with serious stab wounds in his chest.
“He p***es me off sitting on Facebook, completely blanking me when I’m talking to him. All he does is sits there and adds loads of girls,” Palmer allegedly told a friend.
According to the newspaper, she also claimed she was planning to leave Mr Searson and move into her mother’s house after she was forced to pay their rent while he spent money on a mobile phone and shopping.
The woman had initially told police that her boyfriend stabbed himself in the chest after they had been playing-fighting with a knife and she had accidentally knocked it into him.
According to the police authorities, a blood-stained knife was found on the sofa as they discovered Mr. Searson on the floor inside the caravan.
The woman was tried at Preston crown court and will serve a minimum sentence of 12 years before she is eligible for parole. -KP
