US National Security Advisor HR McMaster said Friday Ghani would one of the select world leaders who Trump would be meeting on the margins of the General Assembly next week.
“On Thursday, the president will meet with the leaders of Turkey, Afghanistan and Ukraine. The latter two countries in particular have suffered direct and persistent attacks on their sovereignty in recent years,” McMaster told reporters at a White House news conference.
In addition to Ghani, Trump is also scheduled to meet leaders of Jordan, the Palestinian Authority, the United Kingdom and Egypt. He will meet leaders of France and Israel, and host a working dinner for Latin American leaders.
Ghani arrives in New York next week to address the UN General Assembly. He will also hold bilateral meetings with a number of world leaders and interact with the think-tank community including the Council on Foreign Relations and the Asia Society.
