BUNER: The provincial government has been accused of being hand in glove in various cases of corruption and land grabbing. The allegations were levelled by Awami National Party provincial general secretary Sardar Hussain Babak.

The ANP leader was addressing a rally in Totalai, Buner on Wednesday.

“The incumbent government has lost the moral ground to govern [the province] after the Bank of Khyber’s report was delayed,” he said. “The government claims to be working towards ending corruption. However, the surge in corruption cases reflects how Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has adopted a fairly non-serious attitude.”

According to Babak, the PTI-led provincial government is not concerned about ensuring the accountability of its own lawmakers. “[On the contrary] PTI’s leadership is involved in cases of corruption,” he said.

He added the previous government in the province had initiated an “education revolution” in the province.

“Meanwhile, the PTI-led government has reduced the development budget by 70%,” he said. “Several budget cuts are expected due to lapses in financial year 2015-16.”

On the occasion, a large number of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz workers announced their decision to form an alliance with ANP. –The Express Tribune
