Addressing a daily press conference, Foreign Office Spokesman Nafees Zakria, told reporter that Sartaj Aziz would attend the Heart of Asia conference in India and suggested the visit could be used to “defuse the tension” between the nuclear armed neighbours.
The Istanbul Process- Heart of Asia conference was scheduled to be held in Indian’s western city of Amratsar on December 13th and 14th, he said.
Zakria said Islamabad supported initiatives for Afghan peace process, adding that stable Afghanistan was in the interest of Pakistan.
He said Sartaj Aziz would attend another four-nation conference on Afghanistan in Moscow, the capital of Russian Federation next month.
Russian envoy for Asia Zamir Kabulov earlier announced representatives from Afghanistan, Pakistan, China and Russia would take part in the vital conference.
Pakistan foreign office has said Islamabad supported all efforts amid at peace and stability in Afghanistan. By J. H. Kakar
