‘More US deployment wouldn’t bring peace’: Karzai blames US for its wrong Afghan polic

karzai_warns-615x300@2xKABUL: Hamid Karzai, the former president blamed the United States and its allies for what he said “taking wrong policy” in Afghanistan, resulting terrorists more power.

“One decade and half ago, the US and its allies came to our country with full cooperation from the important regional countries with the aim of fight against terrorism. Unfortunately, by the wrong US policies not only this inauspicious phenomenon was not removed, but terrorism and extremis became more powerful,” Karzai addressed the people in his New Year message. “Even the Daesh also emerged.”

He added that the expansion of terrorism and extremism caused Afghanistan to turn to the ground for confrontation of different regional countries, instead of regional cooperation.

Karzai called on the government and people to take a national step and policy put an end to the tensions, paving the ground for peace.

The ex-president “once again” called the Taliban to take part in the national step and fulfill their religious responsibility in bringing peace.

“Also, my advice to the US government is to seek its presence in Afghanistan in peace, not in the continuation of war,” Karzai said. “The US would be better to reach a new agreement with the people of Afghanistan for bringing peace, instead of increasing the number of its troops that will undoubtedly cause the war intensifying.”

He asked the United States to clarify to the regional and world countries why terrorism and extremis are expanding, attracting their cooperation to a real struggle against terrorism in Afghanistan.

Karzai called the roles of the Islamic Republic or Iran, Russian Federation, the People’s Republic of China, the Republic of India as well as the Shanghai and SAARC organizations vital in the Afghan peace.

The former president again emphasized that neither Afghanistan, nor Pakistan and the region would be safe unless Pakistani government and its military officials stop supporting and using extremism.

“My advice to Pakistan is to urgently review its policies for Afghanistan. It should adopt a friendly relationship with us, not a destructive one.”
