Blaze engulfs Abasin Zadran Market in Kabul

KABUL: A fire has reportedly broken out in the Abasin Zadran cloths market in Mirwais Maidan area of the capital Kabul on Thursday.

An eyewitness Edress Ahmad told Pajhwok Afghan News that the fire was erupted in the top storey of the Market around 10:00am this morning.

He said some people believed it was a suicide bombing inside the market and everyone ran away from the busy area.

A shopkeeper, Abdullah Marwat, said that he also believed a suicide bomber was inside the market.

“But later we realized there was no suicide bomber, but it was a fire which has broke out in the market,” he said.

Marwat added that a police officer told him the fire was erupted in the sixth floor of the market and then spread to other nearby shops.

He added firefighters arrived to the area and were extinguishing the fire.

Dawal Khan, another shopkeeper said the fire caused lost of millions of Afghanis to shopkeepers. -Pajhwok
