QUETTA: A comparatively big explosion rocked Pakistan’s Quetta city Wednesday morning leaving at least 15 people killed and 10 others wounded.
Officials said the blast was apparently a suicide attack targeting security forces near a polio center.
According to Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, Home Minister of Baluchistan, 13 of the dead are policemen.
Hospital sources at Sandeman Hospital in the city confirm receiving 15 dead bodies from the explosion site.
Pakistan’s President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Mohammad Nawaz Sharif have strongly condemned the blast vowing to eliminate terrorism from the country.
“The government is committed to stamp out extremism from the country and the operation will continue till elimination of terrorism,” the PM said in a statement.
No group has immediately claimed responsibility for the attack. -KP
