The National Directorate of Security (NDS) said the Taliban insurgents were operating in three different groups and were involved in planning and coordinating suicide attacks in Kandahar province.
No further details were given regarding the possible target of the detained insurgents which comes as the Taliban militants have been attempting step up attacks in this province.
Kandahar is the birth place of the Taliban insurgents however the Afghan security forces have managed to maintain security and stability in this province during the past several months.
At least five incidents involving terrorist attacks have been reported in this province since the beginning of the month which involves two insider attacks and a coordinated attack that left a senior army general dead.
The deputy commander of 205th Atal Corps of the Afghan National Army General Khan Agha Achekzai was killed after a group of militants attacked him near a guesthouse late on Thursday night.
The Taliban militants group has not commented regarding the arrest of the group’s insurgents by NDS so far. K-P
